Medals for Finishers
Our club has had several members that have been touched by cancer over the past few seasons. The assist in those that are battling this challenge we have begun an initiative with the UHS Radiation Oncology/Cyberknife Center of New York to distribute a donated finishers medal to patients that have completed a series of chemotherapy or radiation treatments.
In addition to a donated medal they receive an accompanying card that says: “The race that I received this medal at was very hard and challenging for me to finish- but it is nothing compared to what you have just completed! Good Luck and Good Health from the Broome County Triathlon Club”. If you or someone that you know has been through an experience like this you know how important it is to keep up their spirits during their recovery.
We ask that anyone that has a finishers medal (or medals) that they are willing to donate to this effort to bring them to a membership meeting or make arrangements for us to pick them up from you.
We would like to acknowledge the participation and donations from the following people/events:
- Hagerstown, Maryland Duathlon
- Bird-in-Hand Pennsylvania Half Marathon
- I Run For… Half Marathon
- Long Branch NJ Half Marathon
- 13.1 NYC
- The Philadelphia Love Run
